Balanagar-Narsapur flyover gets Rs 387 cr push

Hyderabad: At last, the much-touted flyover from Balanagar cross roads to Narsapur crossroads will be taken up as the State government has sanctioned Rs 387 crore through GO 833 and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has already taken up land acquisition works. Thanks to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials for calling for tenders through the EPC mode, the project will surely ease the traffic congestion on the busy roads.

The HMDA has offered Rs 25 crore to the GHMC for taking up land acquisition works and promised to give funds on requirements. According to a press release, the proposals along with GAD, Project Report, Estimates through the current rates for arriving at Internal Bench Mark, Bid Documents consisting of the Scope of the Project, Eligibility Criteria, General Conditions and Special Conditions, etc. prepared and submitted by STUP Consultants were placed before the Committee to approve the technical matters.

The Committee has gone through the proposals and suggested for modification up to 3.5 per cent as against 2.5 per cent proposed and the length of the flyover was fixed at 1.09 km as against 1.32 km with the modification there is a saving in the cost of construction, land acquisition cost, etc.

The Committee has also gone through the estimates and its provisions, the eligibility criteria adopted for fixing rates of bidders for EPC mode, payment break-up and payment schedule, maintaining timelines, deliverables, etc. It has approved the technical aspects such as scope, objective and final deliverables of the project, internal bench mark value of Rs.69.109 crores, basic parameters and approval of live bid documents, evaluation criteria, payment schedule, etc. for the construction of flyover between Balanagar crossroads and Narsapur crossroads.
